This jigsaw has a “feature” that soft starts and then speeds up when it encounters resistance. This can be a problem when trying to do fine work. A comment in a youtube video for the barrel version of the jigsaw had a way to shut off this soft start feature.

• Make sure that the jigsaw is turned off.
• Set the speed adjusting dial to “1”.
• Press the lock/unlock button to turn on the tool.
• Set the speed adjusting dial to “5” by turning it, and then set it to “1” by turn it back.

The lamp blinks twice to indicate that the soft no-load rotation function is disabled. To enable this function again, perform the same procedure again.

An old cabinet maker on youtube discussed a plausible reason for kickback on table saws and how he's effectively eliminated in his work. He says a table saw using a big 10 inch blade is the reason that kickbacks can be so dangerous. Instead he says, use a 7 inch blade. They are often thinner and can go through the stock a lot easier. Kickbacks are less likely to happen. Obviously being careful to not pinch the wood and use a riving knife too.
