Turns out getting quality PS3 replacement controllers isn't all that easy. Ebay is full of bootlegs and you don't know what you're getting. Some of these bootleg controllers, if the listings are true are selling in the tens of thousands to either unsuspecting buyers or they just don't care.  But I suppose you might not care IF the bootlegs were perfect and awesome.  But I'm not sure they are.

You can still buy a new PS3 controller, they are like $60 new on Amazon. What the hell?!

Anyway, I posted a question over to Reddit in the PS3 group about getting good controller replacements and someone led me to another recent thread. People recommended a few controllers actually. 

  * Power A - The poster said they had heard good things about them, that they come in wired and wireless and also have an xbox button positioning.  A responder said they have two and they are solid.

  * another person mentioned the Chronus Max which is one of those all-in-one button converters
  * Biogenik brand was recommended and come in wired and wireless. Layout is xbox style
  * Afterglow's wireless PS3 controller "feels great" said one commenter
  * Another said they got the Afterglow PDP at walmart for under $20
  * A final commenter in the thread said they have 3 Gioteck wired controllers and they work good for Helldivers, whatever that is.

After looking at the Walmart site, there is a controller that has good ratings and has the six-axis effect. It's just called SIXAXIS and it's sold by Dainslef Inc.

Funny thing is that people seem to have issues buying ps3 controllers all over. Seems like bootlegs have seeped into the online stores of even walmart where people are getting junk delivered in strange boxes. Makes you wonder where the risk is vs the cost.
